On Jan 31st 2026 the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be going to the pools to elect a flag bearer to lead the party in the next general elections slated for December 2028.

Five abled and well endowed men of valour and substance have picked nominations for the up coming elections. The former vice president to Nana Akuffo Addo who together ruled the affairs of the country for 8 hrs is part of the race. In the previous elections Dr Bawumia was elected as the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party and He performed very bad leading to the party loosing a lot of seats in parliament and in the history of the party that happens to be the bad performance by a presidential candidate since the formation of the party.

Another leading member of the party and a financial guru of the party from 1992 and an outspoken one who has served the party in parliament for 24 years in the Assin constituency in the central region and also hod series of businesses in Ghana and touts himself as the favourite of the youth and alsohe believes he supports base cuts across both the NPP and the NDC and even floating voters.

His followers believes with his business strategies and also his experience in Politics gives him the nod over all his competitors

But his competitors believes he is quick tempered and is wily provoked which they believes does not warrant him to climb the high office of the Republic of Ghana.

A late entrant to this race is Dr Brain Acheampong an MP and also a well composed man and a businessman as well has been touted as the future of the Party. He lived in the USA where He joined the military and even was part of the team that lead the onslaught leashed against Afghanistan by the USA.

He is also known for his business strategies and was part of the financial gurus for Dr Bawumia in the previous elections and was even tipped to be the vice president to Dr Bawumia.

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong a very formidable force, a young patriot and a founding member of the NPP, He rose through the ranks of the party to become the General secretary before he was ousted through mafia means by Nana Akuffo Addo.

In President Kuffour Administration he was the government spokesperson, He is known for his truthfulness and a team player, an Engineer by profession and has been a secret financier of the party.

He is a fine gentleman but people believes he is more of a party man than a presidential material. It’s up to the delegates to decide.

Dr Adutum the current MP for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region and a former Deputy and minister of education in the Nana Addo led government.

An academic person who transformed the education sector of Ghana in his reign and introduced practical educational reforms.

the only minister for education who could go to the classroom and teach at the secondary school level. A very fine gentleman who is also believed to be a president for the future.
